The Rolf-Meissner-Symposium:

From Crustal Seismology to Geodynamics

Kiel, Germany, 05-06* June 2015

The Symposium is held in memory of Rolf Meissner (1925-2014)

The Rolf-Meissner-Symposium aims at on- and offshore lithospheric research - its current state and future development. Emphasis is on

  • crustal and lithospheric seismology and its role in developing geodynamic models,
  • integrating seismic with petrology, tectonics, gravity and electromagnetics,
  • geodynamic modelling based on seismic and other constraints.

Conceptual as well as case studies are welcome. Papers of this international symposium will be published in a special issue of Tectonophysics.

Keynote speakers are, among others, I. Artemieva (Univ. Copenhagen, Geodynamics Division President of the EGU), L. Brown (Cornell Univ.), W. D. Mooney (U.S. Geological Survey, Past President of Seismology Section of the AGU), J. Mechie (GFZ Potsdam), H. Thybo (Univ. Copenhagen, President of the EGU).

The symposium will take place in the Institute of Geoscience, Ludewig-Meyn-Str. 12, 24118 Kiel.
