Schiff: WFS Planet 5/81 / Forschungsplatform Nordsee, Deutsche Bucht / 09.03.1981-20.03.1981
Kern:
Datum: 14.03.1981 Wassertiefe: 41 m Typ: Vibrocorer VK 300 Teufe: 102.5 - 152 cm Gewinn: 157 cm
Position: Breite: 54.6533 / Länge: 6.9217 Decca: Rot C 20.84 / Grün C 47.80 / Violett
Merkmale: biogenic structures from bivalves and crustacea.
Bemerkungen: Sediment sequence: 0-19 cm: light greyish-brown, slightly silty, fine grained sand, with oxidations streaks. 19-74/77 cm: dark grey to bluish grey, fine grained sand with traces of biogenic activity. Increasing occurrences of small 2 mm grits and shell fragments downwards. 5 large Arctica islandica shells below 55 cm depth. Curved lower boundary. 74/77-87/93 cm: brown, medium grained sand. With irregular lower boundary. 87/93-102/110: grey, fine grained sand, with darker clay streaks, and thin layers rich in organic matter. Layers disturbed. 102/110-139 cm: greyish brown to black, fine silt, with thin clay and fine grained sand layers. 5 mm thick organic rich lenses with mica. Wavy layers inclined at 55°-65° to bed boundary with varying thicknesses between beds. 139-150 cm Silt, clay and fine grained sand as above, with thin lenticular beds, some with current bedding. Dragdown at core edges gavean impression of pseudo-anticlinal structure. 150-152 cm light grey, fine grained silty sand lenses, with less organic matter. Alignment of coarse grains (grits) along lenses. 152-157 cm very dark grey, fine grained, silty sand, with current bedding and streaks rich in organic matter.

102.5 152 7.5 102.5-109 cm: core disturbed. 109-152 cm: Large trace, ~3 cm wide, with convex upwards layering, suggesting downward movement of a bivalve at 125-137 cm. Inclined, partially hollow, burrows of Crustacea at 128-132 cm and at about 137 cm depth.
